Damn, I saw the audio play button after I read the whole thing. I could have listened to your delivery whilst packing for Star! Great story!! I especially like Shelley’s gumption! Hate is a strong word. I would have wanted to know why too, until a certain point. You reached that point. I think your theory about Mouth to Mouth is valid.
Steve, great story. It is perplexing when you hear someone hates you, who you don’t really know. I had that happen in HS . Word got to me that some girl hated me. I didn’t even know her. One day I saw her in the hallway and approached her. I flat out asked her, “Why do you hate me?” She looked at me and said, “I don’t know, I just do” and walked away. Guess everyone is entitled to their own feelings. 😄
Steve, your article reminded me of the time I was booked on THV. We staged a (fake) wedding on a New York City bus and I was the accordionist. It was an outlandish thing to do back then. Then "Jackass" came along and redefined what it means to be a prank show. I also remember when I was wrapped for the day, the THV tech staff forgot to remove my wireless mic. Heading home on the Long Island Expressway I said into my lapel, "I don't know if you guys can still hear me, but I've got your mic." To me, THAT was funnier than the bus sketch.
Hey Barry! That bit must have been after I left (got fired). Yeah, I have a story in the pipeline that will get deeper into the THV experience. Thanks for subscribing! S.
Great story! Shelley is so brave! It puts the ELR story into context, I will have to watch that episode again soon.
Maybe Tom (Caltabiano) could have asked Mr Dees why he ‘hated’ you while he was a visitor at his house? Although I suspect Tom is too polite a host as to make a guest feel uncomfortable, even if he did hate his friend!

Hi Patty,
There's usually something underneath it that has to do with the hater's own insecurity

That was awesome. Natasha and I are listening on our way back from Esalen in Big Sur. We’ve decided we want to be friends with you and Shelley 😂
Thanks for entertaining us. On to the next..
Hoping there is one!
Likewise, Chris. Let's try to get together. So glad you and Natasha liked it. That warms my heart. Many more to come.

Thanks for a great, funny read while I take a break from working outside on a hot SoCal morning.
